Android already has some good speech input options. The fact that you can send texts or do Google and Google Map searches via text is great. There’s a free app, called “Edwin”, that extends your voice controls even further and makes the phone even more useful.

Wine Cellar Review for Android

Disclaimer: Our parent company is in the process of creating an ambitious website for the wine industry.  Part of the plan is the development of a wine-focused app that is comprehensive as well as social.

We are reviewing Wine Cellar as much because we’re interested in wine as we are creating a potential competitor.  That said, there is a lot to like here.

When you first launch Wine Cellar, you are presented with 4 green buttons on a black screen.  The main center button is to access your wine database, as well as add new wines.  The additional three buttons below, give you access to “Around Me” which utilizes your GPS position and Yelp to list those wineries, and resellers (like Beverages and More).  The next button is what they’re really pinning their business model on, Community.
